Hoodie in Florida |
For this project I followed the
Hoodie Pattern and Tutorial from so-sew-easy.com. The fabric and hot pink zipper were from Joann's.

Black, despite looking gray in the picture |
Apparently, this is the only picture I took during the construction phase of the project--makes it a bit difficult to go back and post about the process. So, I only have a few notes that I jotted down along the way.
- Opted to go without pockets, fabric was a bit puffy anyway
- Used selvage for the facing on the zipper
- Original zipper was 24" and ended up getting shortened
- Hem ribbing cut 40" X 4"
- Sleeve ribbing cut 9" X 6 3/4 "
- Hood lining out of same fabric
This hoodie did sew together rather quickly though and I'm happy with the finished fit. I thought a black hoodie would be very versatile, but really it's just a magnet for cat hair. I am a fan of the pattern though and will undoubtedly use it again.
Here a few pictures from our recent Florida trip. Temps were in the 40's, so having a hoodie came in handy. It was a bit difficult to photograph with such bright sun, but I'll take sunshine over perfect photos any day.

Next time, hem ribbing will be wider to lengthen the torso |
