Hoodie for Florida

Hoodie in Florida
For this project I followed the Hoodie Pattern and Tutorial from so-sew-easy.com. The fabric and hot pink zipper were from Joann's.

Black, despite looking gray in the picture
Apparently, this is the only picture I took during the construction phase of the project--makes it a bit difficult to go back and post about the process. So, I only have a few notes that I jotted down along the way.

  • Opted to go without pockets, fabric was a bit puffy anyway
  • Used selvage for the facing on the zipper
  • Original zipper was 24" and ended up getting shortened
  • Hem ribbing cut 40" X 4"
  • Sleeve ribbing cut 9" X 6 3/4 "
  • Hood lining out of same fabric
This hoodie did sew together rather quickly though and I'm happy with the finished fit. I thought a black hoodie would be very versatile, but really it's just a magnet for cat hair.  I am a fan of the pattern though and will undoubtedly use it again.
Here a few pictures from our recent Florida trip. Temps were in the 40's, so having a hoodie came in handy. It was a bit difficult to photograph with such bright sun, but I'll take sunshine over perfect photos any day.
Next time, hem ribbing will be wider to lengthen the torso

The raised hood is a domical feature

That pink zipper loves the sun
